Designing and building ships and boats that have outstanding features including environment-friendly and green energy have become the priority of shipbuilding companies around the world. For such reason, and to meet the requirement of a national program in energy-saving and energy efficiency, Mr. Nguyen Kim Son – James Boat chairman with experts from Czech established a research: “Applying high technology in building ships and floating constructions from PPC material”.

According to Mr. Son, thanks to Vietnamese geography, there is huge demand for small size boats to serve public and commercial purposes. With the outstanding performance that PPC small size boats offer, a number of countries have decided to put them into use. To ensure the accuracy, the building process requires water jet cutting. The assembling process requires heat sealing. Not as easy as it sounds, Mr. Son and his engineers had to spent a considerable amount of time to study these methods and technologies received from OFF-SEA Ltd (Czech). Compare to traditional material like composite, woods, aluminum, or steel, PPC has many more advantages such as environment-friendly, energy-saving up to 30-40%, heat and frost resistant (-30°C to 80°C), soundproofing , thermal insulation, anti-fouling and highly durable (can protect the boat against gunshot) . Moreover, the elasticity of this material helps reduce more friction than wood and steel, so the boat can reach high speed easily. Heal sealing method applying in building the ship is environment-friendly, and PPC can be 100% recycled after use.

According to Prof. Tran VinhDieu from Polymer center of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, PPC lifespan can reach at least 30 years in Viet Nam climate condition. Using PPC material and heat sealing method, we can build boats with capacity up to 150 persons and carry 120 tons of goods, or build patrol boat and rescue boat, whether for river or sea condition.This material is also appropriate to build floating constructions such as docks, ports or luxury yachts

PPC material was approved for building boats, canoes and floating constructions by Ship Science and Technology Institute and Viet Nam register. According to their report, 50% cost of building boats, canoes and floating constructions from PPC material goes to importing. Many parts of the boat can be manufactured domestically, which can create jobs for our labor..

Importantly, James Boat products can compete with other imported products on quality, price, jobs and government budget saving.
