Advantages of PPC material within ship building industry

MS-50 high-speed patrol ship, registration number 426, of 1st Regional Coast Guard with a length of 13,66m, width of 3,78m and capacity of 16 persons using PPC material technology, after 2000 nautical miles of operating, still prove to be powerful and durable. That’s why James Boat technology joint-stock company received a commendation from 1st Regional Coast Guard for the quality.

PPC material is a new invention of scientists and experts from Czech and Germany. This material is used to build canoes, ships and floating constructions by a high technology method (heat sealing). With the technology transfer and support from OFF-SEA Ltd, James Boat achieved the 2nd place in National Creative Science Award – Vifotech with the research: “Applying PPC material in building ships in Vietnam”
In the world, some countries have successfully applied PPC material technology in building ships. PPC material has proved its outstanding quality in safety, environment-friendly and fuel efficiency. Moreover, products made from PPC can sustain extreme weather condition (-30°C to 80 °C) without any damage, sustain strong impact (even bullet from hand gun), prevent corrosion and fouling, insulate sound and heat, and require low maintenance cost.

PPC durability test

Established in Vietnam since 2013, after 2 years of operating James Boat has built and delivered 10 ships using PPC material to the customers. Most of the products from James Boat are used for commercial and national security purpose: Coast Guard patrol ship, Vingroup yacht, canoe dock for police department, seaplane dock in Tuan Chau – Ha Long, yacht dock in Cau Mong (Ho Chi Minh City). Moreover, James Boat was authorized by CS Lloyd to certify design and create ability, and registration of EU standard canoe, yacht and ship. Therefore, James Boat’s products are allowed to be imported in EU and USA.
In a test drive of Vietnam Coast Guard patrol ship on the Red River, the ship was witnessed to achieve 40.6 nautical miles per hour without any shake or vibration, and maintained its balance nicely. Mr. Frantisek Svedik, technical head of James Boat, said that the ship can reach 45 nautical miles per hour if operates on the sea. This is the maximum speed that none patrol canoe or ship in Vietnam can reach. Certainly, this new material will bring great help to Vietnam Coast Guard in maintaining security, protecting the border, and preventing smuggle.
About the future of PPC material in building ships, Mr Nguyen Kim Son, Chairman of James Boat confidently claimed: “We see that this the future material of not only Vietnam’s ship building industry but also world-wide. Vietnam is developing the petrochemistry industry, which PPC is the main product. Czech Republic is planning to transfer to Vietnam this technology to help us produce this material ourselves. Moreover, with a low ship production cost, nearly equal to the wooden ship’s cost, and wood material becomes scarcer, PPC will definitely become a smart choice for the customer in the future”
